Proper Etiquette on Set and Auditions
Prior to the Audition:
• Prepare your marketing material (head shots, resumes, composite cards)
• Never commit to an audition if you are going to be unavailable for the callback or shoot date. • Always take at least FOUR
headshots to the casting.
• Dress for success…TV Success!
• NEVER take additional people, i.e. friends, siblings, relatives, and neighbors to a casting. Only ONE person per child. Teens
and Adults should go into the casting alone. Taking extra people to an audition is grounds for dismissal.
• Do not take food or drinks into the waiting area or casting room.
• Never go to an audition if you are ill. Call your agent at least 24 hours prior if you are unable to go to the audition.
• If sides/script/storyboard is available, have them with you, memorized, and BE PREPARED!
• Arrive no more than 5-10 minutes early for all auditions. Never go into the audition more than 10 minutes early. The
casting directors have a schedule and often pair people together. Arriving too early can cause confusion and create excess
traffic in the waiting areas.
During the Audition:
• Go directly into the lobby, check in with the front desk, sign in, and take a seat.
• Be prepared to know your social security number, your current clothes size, and measurements.
• Bathrooms at castings are not used as dressing areas for actors or models to change and touch up hair and makeup. Come
to the audition camera ready.
• Do not shake the hands of the casting director or client unless they extend their hand first.
• Do not ask the casting director or client for specific information about the shoot. This is your agent’s job. Casting Directors
and assistants are usually very busy trying to stay on schedule and therefore have little time for small talk. Please, never ask
the casting director for a business card!
• Never ask the casting director or client, “How did I do?” This shows lack of confidence in skills.
• Immediately after the audition, thank the casting director and exit the building.
• NEVER call the client or casting director for any reason, ever.
Post Audition Etiquette
• Forget about it and move on to the next one.
• Never call your agent to check in after the audition unless there was an emergency.
• Never call your agent to ask if you have gotten the job or are on the callback list.
When You Get the Job:
• Ask your agent about the contract to be signed on the set. Do not sign a contract on the set for non-union bookings
unless your agent has approved it.
• Do NOT take additional people with you to the booking. Taking extra people on set is grounds for dismissal.
• Arrive 10 minutes prior to call time
• Check in immediately with your contact person.
• Be prepared to wait. This is a “hurry up and wait” business.
• Never discuss your rate with any other model or actor, especially not the client.
• Everyone on the set has a specific job. Please respect their time and attention.
• Do NOT “gossip” with other models or actors on the set ( or with the other moms)
• Leave the dressing rooms as you found them after a booking.
A few Do’s and Don’ts:
Never discuss payment or money with a client or with another actor/model. You may be making more or less than another
based on experience and client interests. Never discuss money with anyone – this is a sure way to make yourself look like a
“newbie” or unprofessional.
If you are lost or if you are going to be late, please call Halo 349-2444 or Stephanie’s cell 678-429-0349 immediately. Please
only use Stephanie’s cell for emergency purposes only and only when on a job. Email or call the office for EVERYTHING else.
This helps us keep all communication on one device.
Do not walk into the booking terribly early. If your call time is 9:15, please do not go into the job until 9:05 or 9:10. When
you are super early, it can be stressful for the client. If you are early, please wait in your car. Crew call is earlier than cast call
for a reason. You will be in the way if you go early.
Please do not ask to see pictures or video from the shoot. Please do not ask when the shots will come out or air on TV.
Please keep all questions to a minimum. Your agent (Halo) will answer all those questions for you.
(Page 1 of 2 Proper Etiquette with Halo 2019)
Please have a positive attitude. Smile a lot. Be a good sport. Be polite. Offer to help when it’s appropriate. All clients that
have a good experience with you (and Halo) will want to use you again.
Do not assume posting behind the scenes pictures on social media is acceptable. Please ask your agent if this is okay. Some
clients do not want any information or images “leaked” before the production/advertisement is officially released.
Please sign and date this form saying you understand and will abide by proper etiquette while representing Halo at a
booking.
