Self Tape Class in 3 Easy Steps:
Step 1: Meet with Halo to Craft Your Content
Step 2: Meet with Halo for Critique
Step 3: Come to Halo to Film
Level Up Your Self‑Tape & Audition –
Live Zoom Class (Tuesdays at 7 PM)
or
Live at Halo (Wednesdays at 5:30 PM)
Because most of our clients are based out of town, you’ll audition by self‑tape about 80% of the time. If you’re serious about booking work, you need a strong tape on your portfolio page. Clients aren’t going to fly to Savannah just to cast and then come back again to shoot — they cast from self‑taped auditions. This is a skill you’ll need to get comfortable with, and your self‑tapes have to stand out.
Our monthly Self‑Tape Audition Class on ZOOM / In Person is designed to help actors and models feel confident on camera, understand what casting directors look for, and submit polished tapes that get noticed. Join us Tuesday nights at 7 PM on Zoom or Wednesday nights at 5:30 PM at Halo interactive class led by Halo Agency Director, Stephanie.
What You’ll Learn: The Two Types of Self Tapes w/ Content
In this class, you'll learn the two ways you'll have to audition for clients via self-tapes.
Self‑Tape Basics – How to set up your space, frame your shot, and get clean audio and lighting.
Content Creation – Learn how to craft a compelling 30-second introduction using Stephanie’s bullet-point strategy. When someone asks, “Tell me about yourself,” will you be ready with an answer that highlights who you are, what you can do, and what makes you memorable?
This skill is useful far beyond auditions. You’ll use it throughout your life—in job interviews, social settings, networking opportunities, and professional conversations. The information you share in your personality self-tape may also be what you share when auditioning in person for a client. Learn to speak confidently and authentically while maintaining the important balance between confidence and humility.
Audition Techniques – How to NOT look like a rookie. The stuff you don't know you don't know. These techniques are also used for in person castings. Learn what clients look for.
What Not To Do – Common mistakes that instantly hurt your chances (and how to avoid them).
Styling for Auditions – What to wear, what to skip, and how to look on‑brand for the role.
Scene Delivery – Pacing, energy, and how to keep your performance natural on camera.
The Business Behind the Tape – The Checklist to use before you send your tape!
Personality Tape Included (Optional Upgrade)
A big part of modern casting is your personality tape – a short video that shows who you are beyond your headshot.
During this class, we’ll help you create and craft the content for your personality tape that will live on your personal portfolio page:
We’ll coach you on what to say and how to say it.
We’ll film you on a white backdrop.
We’ll upload your best take to your personal web page.
This personality tape can be used for most “personality” self‑taped auditions going forward.
